Admissions
St John of Beverley Voluntary Aided RC Primary School was founded by the Catholic Church to provide education for the children of Catholic families. The school is conducted by the governing body as part of the Catholic Church in accordance with its trust deed and instrument of government, and seeks at all times to be witness to Jesus Christ.
The school’s Admission Policy provides for children to be admitted to full time education at the beginning of the term in which they are five years old. Autumn term birthdays are admitted in September, Spring and Summer birthdays are admitted in January. The admission limit to the Foundation Stage is 25 pupils per year. Whenever there are more applications than places available, priority will always be given to Catholic applicants in accordance with the over subscription criteria outlined below.
- Catholics who are resident in the parish of St John of Beverley including looked after children residing with catholic families
- other Catholic children
- brothers and sisters of children attending the school
- catechumens, children whose parents are catechumens, those who are candidates for reception into the church and members of an Eastern Christian Church
- other looked after children
- christians of other denominations whose parents are in sympathy with the aims and ethos of the school and whose application is supported by a minister of religion or religious leader
- children seeking admission on medical and social grounds (supported by official letters)
- any other applicants
Applicants who are unsuccessful will be given reasons for decisions taken and advised of their right of appeal. The admission of pupils with a statement of Special Educational Needs is dealt with through a completely separate procedure. Details on how to apply should be requested from the school.
